The 2013 Excellence in Balance Biosphere was given to REGINA PAZ "GINA" LOPEZ of ABS-CBN FOUNDATION of Quezon City, The Philippines.

ABS-CBN is truly in the service of the Filipino from across the globe. Its humanitarian works aside from world class media is heralding as well the importance of the preservation and protection of nature.

Gina Lopez (picture at your right), the ABS-CBN Foundation Managing Director is a strong woman of modern call. Her advocacy in calling every Filipino citizen to support agriculture and ecotourism created a big impact to the world to go against mining in the Philippine Islands ecosystem.

In her campaign strategy, "An island ecosystem is one where there are mountains, forests, rivers, mangroves, coral reefs, agricultural lands and fishery resources. Mining in areas like this can NEVER be responsible. It puts the whole ecological system and the thousands that depend on it at risk. Especially since the Philippines is in a Geo Hazard Zone of the planet - vulnerably YEARLY to typhoons, floods, earthquakes and other natural calamities."

Her call reached Dublin, Ireland where one of its denizens nominated her for this 2013 FitzGerald Award Excellence in Balance Biosphere.
