NEWS UPDATE: The 2014 Posthumous Excellence in Music will be given to Tomas Dela Paz y Sauza (born Tomas Pio Dela Paz y Sauza) of Pueblo de Mariquina (presently Marikina City), The Philippines.

The 2013 Excellence in Sports was given posthumously to PEDRO TOLENTINO y DELOS SANTOS of Angono, Rizal Province, The Philippines. 

He was the son of Andrea Delos Santos y Liwanag and of Simeon Toletino y Lipio, the son of Floretina Lipio and of Modesto Tolentino y Blanco, the son of Maria Blanco y Sauza and of Inocencio Anselmo Miguel Tolentino y Senson, the so of Don Pacifico Tolentino y Saguinsin and of Doña Martiniana Escolastica Josefa Senson y Imperial, the daughter of Don Clemente Senson (2nd husband) and of Doña Ysabel Salome Porteria Imperial y Sauza, the 2nd child of Don Teodoro Vicente Luis Imperial y Ormaechea and of Doña Hilaria Maria Dela Vega Sauza y Berenguer de Marquina, the eldest child of Don Santiago Sauza y Delos Rios and of Doña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong, the only child of Doña Demetria Sumulong y Lindo and of Señor Felix Berenguer de Marquina y FitzGerald, the 55th Governor-General of the Philippines of Alicante, Spain and from The Royal.& Noble House of FitzGerald of Ireland.

His great grandmother Maria Blanco y Sauza was the daughter of Don Valentin Blanco y Legaspi and of Doña Rosalia Candida Sauza y Tuazon, the second child of Doña Matilde Tuazon y Dela Peña and of Don Miguel Juan Santiago Sauza y Berenguer de Marquina, the seventh child of Don Santiago Sauza and of  Doña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong.

He was one of the World War II veterans. During the World War II in the Philippines, in order for him and fellow soldiers to have a good physique and better strength, agility and endurance,  he organized and lead a platoon that spent time on sports such as swimming, running and other ballgames to maintain good health. Because of his efforts, when Bataan had fallen into the hands of the Japanese, he and his fellow soldiers who took a walk of the infamous Death March, many of them survived because their physiques were strongly developed by sports. 


You can now nominate for The Excellence in Sports. This award is given posthumously to any descendant of the Sauza family and of the Familia Sauza-Berenguer de Marquina who gave remarkable contribution in the progress of sports / physical health in his / her place or in another place.
