The 2013 Excellence in Education was given posthumously to APOLONIO MIRANDA y BLANCAFLOR of Angono, Rizal Province, The Philippines.

He was the husband of Iluminada Tolentino y Saguinsin, the daughter of Sofia Saguinsin y Samson and of Domingo Tolentino y Ybañez, the son of Josefa Ybañez and of Feliciano Carlos Antonio Tolentino y Delos Santos, the son of Doña Genara Delos Santos and of Don Teodoro Hilario Delfino Tolentino y Imperial, the son of Don Arcadio Jose Valentin Tolentino y Saguinsin and of Doña Alejandra Generosa Felicidad Imperial y Sauza, the 3rd child of Don Teodoro Vicente Luis Imperial y Ormaechea and of Doña Hilaria Maria Dela Vega Sauza y Berenguer de Marquina, the eldest child of Don Santiago Sauza y Delos Rios and of Doña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong, the only child of Doña Demetria Sumulong y Lindo and of Señor Felix Berenguer de Marquina y FitzGerald, the 55th Governor-General of the Philippines of Alicante, Spain and from The Royal.& Noble House of FitzGerald of Ireland.

His wife's mother Sofia was the daughter of Priscila Samson y Mendiola and of Olimpio Saguinsin y Delos Santos, the son of Doña Valentina Delos Santos y Gragera and of Don Juan Saguinsin y Sauza, the son of Don Amado Saguinsin y Paquil and of Doña Maria Preciosa Salome Sauza y Ormaechea, the 3rd child of Doña Ygnacia Margarita Beatriz Ormaechea y Zaraspe and of Don Demetrio Ygnacio Felipe Sauza y Berenguer de Marquina, the second child of Don Santiago Sauza y Delos Rios and of Doña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong.

His remarkable contribution in the educational sector of his native Angono is up to now experienced by the denizens of Angono through their school Gingergrace Academe that produced  and still producing skilled and young professional alumni alike since its foundation in 1983. 

His good political contributions as well in his native Angono are well-remembered by his constituents. He always promoted the importance of quality education to succeed in one's life.
