The 2013 Excellence in Music was given to MONICA PAULINE GIL y SANTOS of Manila City, The Philippines, She is also known as Nikki Gil.
She is the daughter of Julie Christine Santos and Dino Gil y Roan, the son of Luzdivina Roan y Samson and of Dr. David Gil y Villaluz, the son of Constancia Villaluz y Blanco and of Nemensio Gil y Reyes, the son of Maria Cleofe Reyes and of Adriano Gil y Blanco, the son of Doña Maria Magdalena Blanco y Sauza and of Don Tomas Geronimo Gil y Imperial, the son of Don Rodrigo Guillermo Antonio Gil y Calderon and of Doña Maria Ysabel Salome Imperial y Sauza, the eight child of Don Teodoro Vicente Luis Imperial y Ormaechea and of Doña Hilaria Maria Dela Vega Sauza y Berenguer de Marquina, the eldest child of Don Santiago Sauza and of Doña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong, the only child of Doña Demetria Sumulong y Lindo and of Señor Felix Berenguer de Marquina y FitzGerald, the 55th Governor-General of the Philippines of Alicante, Spain and from The Royal & Noble House of FitzGerald of Ireland.
She is chosen this year for this award because of her wholesome contribution to the Philippine music and film industry which is truly an inspiring role for the modern youth. She is also a versatile host, theatre and movie actress. She is well remembered for the High School Musical Breaking Free and Gotta On My Way under Walt Disney Pictures Her international film The Red Shoes, where she was the lead actress, won the Best Picture Award in the 27th Bogota International Film Festival.
