The 2013 Excellence in Good Parenting was given posthumously to DON GREGORIO TUAZON y TINDUGAN of South Cotabato, The Philippines.
He was the son of Don Jose Agustin Tuazon y Sumulong and of Doña Maria Brigida Consuelo Tindugan y Salviejo, the eldest daughter of Don Filemon Abelardo Tindugan y Sunglao (1st Husband) and of Doña Ysabel Salviejo y Evangelista y Sauza, the daughter of Doña Maria Salviejo y Evangelista and of Padre Lorenzo Eduardo Teofilo Sauza y Berenguer de Marquina, the 5th child of Don Santiago Sauza y Delos Rios and of Doña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong, the only child of Doña Demetria Sumulong y Lindo and of Señor Felix Berenguer de Marquina y FitzGerald, the 55th Governor-General of the Philippines of Alicante, Spain and from The Royal & Noble House of FitzGerald of Ireland.
His father Don Jose Agustin Tuazon y Sumulong was the son of Don Ygnacio Luis Antonio Tuazon y Gonzales and of Doña Micaela Salvadora Dela Concepcion Sumulong y Sauza, the eldest child of Don Salvador Sumulong y Mahinay and of Doña Maria Brigida Luisa Sauza y Felipe, the daughter of Doña Adoracion Felipe y Bermudez and of Don Antonio Sauza y Sanchez, the brother of Don El Rico Sauza y Sanchez, the father of Don Santiago Sauza y Delos Rios, tthe husband ofDoña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong.
Though he descended from the rich and prominent clans of the Familia Tuazon of Pampanga, The Philippines and of the Familia Sauza-Berenguer de Marquina of old Marikina City, The Philippines, he did not depend on the illustrious life of his parents' ancestors. Instead, from his home in Bato, Catanduanes, The Philippines, he and his wife Doña Vicenta Bernal y Banas and children and households took the courage to travel to an unknown land to them that was the island of Mindanao. Though Mindanao was unfamiliar to them, they were safe because of their Familia Sauza-Berenguer de Marquina relatives from old Davao.
He protected his household from threat. He preferred peace and love. He was known as Goyong. He was a loving and caring patriarch of his own household. He disciplined them with love and respect. He imparted the importance of family values, independence and fear of the Lord to his household.
Through perseverance, most of his descendants are degree holders and are skilled and professional workers who continue the legacy started by him.
For us, he is the Patriarch of the Bicolano Community of South Cotabato, The Philippines.
