The 2013 Excellence in Literature was given posthumously to PASCUALA MAGBANUA-MOSCOSO y SAUZA (1860-1930) of San Jose, Antique, The Philippines.

She was the eldest child of Doña Ana Magbanua and of Padre Lorenzo Eduardo Teofilo Sauza y Berenguer de Marquina, the 5th child of Don Santiago Sauza y Delos Rios and of Doña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong, the only child of Doña Demetria Sumulong y Lindo and of Señor Felix Berenguer de Marquina y FitzGerald, the 55th Governor-General of the Philippines of Alicante, Spain and from The Royal & Noble House of FitzGerald of Ireland.

She was a learned lady who loved arts, music and literature. In her younger years, she could outsmart men including those from the elite society by her charm, wit and intelligence.

Three of her write ups in Spanish are still preserved by the Familia Sauza-Berenguer de Marquina. These are Las Estrellas de Mar, Mi Provincia Encantada and La Hija del Padre de la Iglesia.

You can now nominate for The Excellence in Literature. This award is given posthumously to any descendant of the Sauza family and of the Familia Sauza-Berenguer de Marquina who gave remarkable contribution in the progress of literature in his / her place or in another place.
