The 2013 Excellence in Music was given posthumously to Maestro LUCIO SAN PEDRO y DIESTRO of Angono, Rizal Province, The Philippines.
He was the son of Elpidio San Pedro of Morong, Rizal, The Philippines and of Soledad Diestro y Tolentino, the daughter of Don Rafael Martin Diestro y Sauza and of Doña Maria Valeriana Ysabel Tolentino y Imperial, the daughter of Don Arcadio Jose Valentin Tolentino y Saguinsin and of Doña Alejandra Generosa Felicidad Imperial y Sauza, the daughter of Don Teodoro Vicente Luis Imperial y Ormaechea and of Doña Hilaria Maria Dela Vega Sauza y Berenguer de Marquina, the eldest child of Don Santiago Sauza y Delos Rios and of Doña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong, the only child of Doña Demetria Sumulong y Lindo and of Señor Felix Berenguer de Marquina y FitzGerald, the 55th Governor-General of the Philippines of Alicante, Spain and from The Royal.& Noble House of FitzGerald of Ireland.
His grandfather Don Rafael Martin Diestro y Sauza was the only son of Don Martin Diego Diestro y Fernandez and of Doña Sagrario Alatea Luisa Sauza y Talip, the eldest daughter of Doña Maria Angeles Talip y Revil (1st Wife) and of Don Demetrio Ygnacio Felipe Sauza y Berenguer de Marquina, the second child of Don Santiago Sauza y Delos Rios and of Doña Ysabel Berenguer de Marquina y Sumulong, the only child of Doña Demetria Sumulong y Lindo and of Señor Felix Berenguer de Marquina y FitzGerald, the 55th Governor-General of the Philippines of Alicante, Spain and from The Royal.& Noble House of FitzGerald of Ireland.
He is our posthumous awardee this year. His status as the Philippines National Artist for Music is really amazing and totally world class!
